Ten Nails Privacy Policy

A nail growth and care tracker

Last updated: 3 August 2026

🔒 Our Commitment

Ten Nails is built to work without knowing anything about you. There is no account to create, no server to send your record to, and no company on the other end reading it.

We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your data. Everything you record stays on your phone.

That is not a policy we chose to write kindly. It is how the app is built: there is no code in Ten Nails that sends your record anywhere, because there is nowhere for it to go.

📊 Data Collection

Ten Nails collects nothing. To be specific, we do not gather:

There are no analytics tools, no advertising networks, and no third-party trackers in the app.

📷 Your Photos

Progress photos are the heart of the app, and they are the most personal thing it holds.

Ten Nails asks for no camera permission and no photo library permission. Pictures come through your phone's own camera app, which hands back only the single image you just took.

💾 Data Storage

Everything lives in app-private storage on your device: your photos, check-ins, slips, urges, trims, care tasks and their history, the awards you have earned, and your settings.

Android's automatic cloud backup is switched off for this app, so your record is not copied to your Google Drive and does not travel in a device-to-device transfer. That is a deliberate choice. A backup that silently uploaded your photographs would make the promise on this page untrue.

One consequence worth knowing: because there is no cloud copy, a new phone starts empty. Use the export before you switch.

📱 Permissions

Ten Nails does not request camera, photos or media, storage, microphone, location, contacts, or body sensors.

About the internet permission: the app's own code makes no network requests. That permission is added automatically by Google Play's billing library so the optional purchase can be processed. Nothing about you is sent over it.

🩺 Not Medical Advice

Ten Nails is a record you keep. It is not a medical device and it diagnoses nothing.

The growth figure is an estimate drawn from the calendar, using an average rate of nail growth. It is not a measurement of your nails, and it will not match a ruler.

The habit module, if you turn it on, is a self-tracking tool and nothing more. Nail biting and skin picking are body-focused repetitive behaviours, and if yours is causing you distress or hurting your hands, a doctor or a therapist can help in ways that an app cannot.

Nails also change for medical reasons. If something about yours worries you, please see a professional rather than waiting for a countdown to finish.

💳 Purchases

Ten Nails is free to download and use. There is one optional purchase, Ten Nails Plus, which is a single payment rather than a subscription.

Payment is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see or store your card details, billing address, or any part of the transaction. All the app keeps is a single yes-or-no flag on your device recording that the unlock is active.

Google Play's own privacy policy covers the payment itself.

📄 Export

Plus includes an export: a JSON file holding everything the app has recorded, photo file names included, though not the image files themselves.

The file is generated on your phone. Nothing is uploaded to make it. Where it goes afterwards is entirely your choice, through your phone's usual share options, and at that point it is covered by whatever app you send it to.

🗑️ Data Deletion

Your data is yours and it is on your device, so removing it is straightforward:

There is nothing to request from us, because we hold nothing. One thing worth naming: your Plus purchase is recorded by Google Play rather than by us, so uninstalling does not cost you what you paid for. Restore it from the paywall on a fresh install.

👶 Children's Privacy

Ten Nails is intended for adults and older teenagers looking after their own nails. It collects no data from anyone, of any age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, because we do not collect personal information at all.

🔄 Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will appear here with a new date, and a material change will be noted in the app's release notes.

If Ten Nails ever gained a feature that sent data anywhere, that would be described here plainly and before the feature shipped, not after.
