Our Privacy Promise
SugarReset is built with privacy as a core principle. We believe your health data belongs to you and only you.
- 100% Offline - All data stays on your device
- No Account Required - No registration, no email, no login
- No Data Collection - We don't collect, store, or transmit your personal data
- No Tracking - No analytics, no ads, no user profiling
- Full Control - Export or delete your data anytime
1Information We Collect
1.1 Personal Health Data (Stored Locally Only)
SugarReset stores the following information exclusively on your device. This data never leaves your phone unless you explicitly export it:
- Daily Sugar Logs: Sugar intake amounts (in grams), timestamps, and optional notes
- Food Presets: Custom food items you create for quick logging
- Challenge Data: Active and completed sugar reduction challenges
- Progress Metrics: Streaks, achievements, XP levels, daily quests
- Settings: Daily goals, theme preferences, notification settings
- Craving Context (Premium): Optional mood, location type, and trigger information
Important: All this data is stored using local device storage (Hive database). We have zero access to this information. Even if we wanted to see it, we technically cannot.
1.2 Data We Never Collect
To be crystal clear, SugarReset does NOT collect:
- ❌ Name, email, phone number, or any identifying information
- ❌ Precise location data or GPS coordinates
- ❌ Contacts, photos, or other media files
- ❌ Device identifiers (IMEI, MAC address, etc.) for tracking
- ❌ Browsing history or app usage patterns
- ❌ Microphone, camera, or sensor data
- ❌ Health data from other apps or fitness trackers
1.3 Anonymous Technical Data (Opt-In Only)
If you explicitly consent in the app settings, we may collect minimal anonymous crash reports via Sentry to improve app stability:
- Device type and Android version (e.g., "Pixel 7, Android 14")
- App version number
- Crash logs and error messages (sanitized, no personal data)
- Anonymous session ID (cannot be linked to you)
Default Setting: Crash reporting is OFF by default. You must opt-in manually.
2How We Use Your Information
2.1 On-Device Processing
All your health data is processed locally on your device to:
- Calculate daily sugar intake and show progress rings
- Track streaks and determine if you've met your goals
- Generate calendar heatmaps and statistics charts
- Award XP, unlock achievements, and complete quests
- Provide insights like "sugar cubes saved" and trend analysis
- Send local notifications (reminders, achievement unlocks)
No cloud processing. Your device does all the work.
2.2 Crash Reports (If Opted In)
If you enable crash reporting, we use anonymous data to:
- Identify and fix bugs that cause app crashes
- Improve app performance and stability
- Test compatibility with different devices
This data is processed by Sentry (see Section 4.2) and deleted after 90 days.
3Data Storage and Security
3.1 Local Storage
All your data is stored in an encrypted local database (Hive) on your Android device. This data:
- Resides in your app's private storage directory
- Is protected by Android's app sandboxing security
- Cannot be accessed by other apps (without root access)
- Is automatically deleted if you uninstall the app
3.2 Backup & Export
Premium users can create manual backups:
- JSON Backup: Exports all data to a file saved in your device's Downloads folder
- CSV Export: Exports logs as a spreadsheet for external analysis
Your responsibility: Backup files are saved to your device storage. If you share or upload them anywhere (cloud storage, email, etc.), that's outside our control. Keep backups secure.
