MoodDots is a calm, offline mood journal. It is built so that everything you record stays on your device. How your days feel, and any note you write, are your inner life, and there is no data more personal than that, so this is the whole design, not a setting. This policy explains, plainly, what that means.
Your journals, your daily check-ins, any tags and private notes you add to a day, and your settings are stored only in MoodDots' private storage on your device. They are never sent anywhere. They leave your device only if you choose to save a backup file yourself (described below), or when you uninstall the app, at which point they are removed.
Android normally copies an app's files to the user's Google Drive on its own, without asking. MoodDots turns that off, for both cloud backup and device-to-device transfer. If it did not, your journals and notes would be uploaded quietly, and the sentence above about nothing leaving your device would not be true.
The cost of this is real and worth stating plainly: there is no cloud copy, so a new phone starts empty unless you moved your own backup file across. That trade is deliberate. If the whole promise is that your inner life stays on your phone, a silent upload is the worse side of it.
MoodDots can save your whole journal as a single file, and restore from one. This happens only when you ask for it, through your device's own file picker, and the file goes only where you choose to put it. The app makes no network call to do this, and it never sees or keeps a copy anywhere else. The file is yours: where you store it, and who can read it there, is under your control.
MoodDots does not collect names, email addresses, contacts, location, photos, device identifiers, usage analytics, or any other personal information. It does not analyze or interpret anything you record: no sentiment analysis, no scores, no inferences about how you are doing. It does not know, and cannot report, how your days feel. The app's own code makes no network requests. The only network use is Google Play handling the optional purchase, described below.
Where MoodDots reads a month back to you in your own words, it is quoting what you wrote, on your device, and nothing else. Showing your words to you is not the same as reading them, and the app never does the second thing.
If you check MoodDots' permissions on Google Play you will see network access listed. That is worth explaining rather than leaving to look suspicious. Those permissions come from Google's own billing library, which the app includes so the optional purchase can work, and they are declared by that library rather than by MoodDots. The app's own code opens no connection, and there is no server for it to open one to. Nothing you record is sent anywhere, whether or not you ever buy anything.
MoodDots offers an optional one-time in-app purchase, MoodDots Plus. If you choose to buy it, the purchase is handled entirely by Google Play. MoodDots never sees your payment details. The app stores only a single private flag on your device recording that Plus was unlocked. Google's handling of the transaction is covered by Google's Privacy Policy.
If you turn on the optional daily reminder, MoodDots schedules a local notification on your device. This uses no network and sends nothing off the device. You can turn it off at any time in the app or in your system settings.
MoodDots is a private journal. It is not therapy or a medical service and does not provide advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It shows you your own record so you can see the shape of your month. If the heavy days are winning, a real person can help.
MoodDots does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children. There is nothing to collect.
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this same address with a new date above. Any change that would affect data handling would be described here before it took effect.
