🔒 Our Commitment

Dear Skin is built privacy-first. Your skin is personal, and the flares and photos you record belong to you and only you.

📊 Data Collection

We want to be completely transparent: Dear Skin does not collect any personal or health data.

• No sign-up, no account, no profile
• No personal information is collected
• No usage analytics or tracking
• No advertising and no advertising identifiers
• No third-party SDKs that collect your data

📷 Your Photos

Photos deserve their own section, because they are the most personal thing Dear Skin holds:

• Stored on your device only. Photos you attach are saved in Dear Skin's app-private storage, which other apps cannot read. They are never uploaded anywhere.
• Never analyzed. Dear Skin does not run any analysis, recognition, or AI on your photos. It stores and organizes them for you; that is all.
• No camera or gallery permission. When you add a photo, your phone's own camera app or the Android photo picker opens. Dear Skin receives only the single image you chose. It cannot browse your gallery or use your camera on its own.
• You control sharing. A photo leaves your device only if you put it in a doctor report or a backup file and then choose to share that file.
• Delete anytime. Deleting a photo in the app removes the image files from your device.

💾 Data Storage

Everything you create in Dear Skin is stored locally on your device, in app-private storage that other apps cannot read:

• Flare entries: The body area(s), side, itch and severity ratings, the main sign (redness, scaling, or thickening), when it was worst, and the date and time you record, stored in a private on-device database
• Photos: Any photos you attach, plus their thumbnails, stored in app-private folders on your device
• Impact & context: How flares affected your sleep, mood, and daily activities, and any triggers or treatments you note (including whether something helped), stored on device
• Weekly Skin Check: Your answers and totals, stored on device
• Condition choice: The skin-condition label you pick to tailor suggestions, stored on device
• Notes: Any free-text notes you add to an entry, stored on device
• Settings: Your reminder time, theme, and preferences, stored on device

None of this is ever uploaded to a cloud server or shared with us or any third party.

📱 Permissions

Dear Skin requests only the minimum permissions needed, and the core tracker works without any of them:

Dear Skin does not request camera, photo, or storage permissions — photos come through your phone's own camera app and the Android photo picker, which hand over only the image you chose. It does not access your location or contacts, never records audio, and reads no device sensors. All tracking works fully offline.

🩺 Not Medical Advice

Dear Skin is a personal tracking and note-keeping tool to help you stay organized and remember what you experienced. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

The Weekly Skin Check is a set of self-answered questions that give you your own week-to-week yardstick — it is not a medical score. The affected-area and severity figures are self-scored estimates, not clinical grading. The condition label you pick is your own choice, not a diagnosis. Dear Skin never analyzes or interprets your photos. Any trends, patterns, or reports it shows are simply summaries of what you entered. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional, such as a dermatologist, about your skin and before making any health decisions. The doctor report is a convenience summary you can choose to share with your clinician; it is not a substitute for professional care.

💳 Purchases

Dear Skin is free. It offers one optional one-time in-app purchase, “Dear Skin Pro,” which unlocks extra features. There is no subscription and there are no ads.

Payments are processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We never see, receive, or store your payment details. Your Pro status is remembered locally on your device and, through Google Play, tied to your Google account so you can restore it after reinstalling.

📦 Backup & Restore

Dear Skin can export your data, photos included, to a single backup file so you can move to a new phone or keep a copy. This is completely under your control:

• The backup file is created on your device. It is only ever shared if you choose to share or save it somewhere.
• Restoring reads a backup file that you pick.
• Backups are never sent to us or to any cloud automatically. Dear Skin has no servers to send them to.

📄 Reports & Exports

Dear Skin can generate a doctor report as a PDF or CSV file from your own entries, optionally including a strip of your photos. The file is created on your device and is only ever shared if you choose to send or save it. We never receive a copy.

🗑️ Data Deletion

You have complete control over your data:

• In the app: Delete individual entries and photos at any time.
• Complete removal: Uninstalling Dear Skin permanently deletes all of its data, including every photo it stored, from your device.

Because nothing you record ever leaves your device, there is no data held on our servers to request deletion of.

👶 Children's Privacy

Dear Skin is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Since the app collects no data from any user, this policy applies equally to users of all ages.

🔄 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Since Dear Skin collects no personal data, changes would only reflect updates to app functionality or permissions.
